  MORE TO COME !

A 'few' of the athletes that I have personally trained/ currently training and/or coached since I began in 2001. They are all extremely hard working individuals and come from all over the state of NJ, South to North, and even some from NY & PA. It's an honor for me to pass my personal knowledge of shot putting and discus throwing onto them from a competitive athlete who has been in huge competitions and knows what it's like to succeed! Best of luck to all of my athletes! They are known as Kevin DiGiorgio's Bomb Squad !!! Also, some kind words from athletes who e-mail me and what they have to say! This is why I love doing what I do !!

 Hey Kevin,
You don't know who I am, but like you I'm a very dedicated shot putter and power lifter. I'm only a freshman in high school in Wisconsin. My best throw this year is only 40 feet and I need your help because I know how you dedicated every second of your high school career to this sport and I want to as well. Like you, I'm not the tallest guy in the world, only standing at 5 feet 6 inches tall. I live in a small town called Oconto Falls, my godfather had held the shot put record here for sometime and then he passed away, and some other kid took it away from him. I want to bring the record back where it belongs, in the family. You are one of my idols and inspirations.  You are the reason I push myself every day to be successful in this sport. I know you can help me get to be successful. So if you have any advice i would greatly appreciate it. Please e-mail me back because this means the world to me but if you can't I understand, you are a busy guy. If I don't hear back from you, take care and good luck.

                                                                                             Sincerely,

PASSAIC TECH HIGH 2009 CLINIC !!

I had Kevin come to Passaic Tech this past March of 2009 to work with both my boys and girls throwers. He brought along Coach Serpico, and they both instructed and evaluated for over 3 hours on all 3 throws. My goal was for myself and my assistants to get drills and workout ideas and for my athletes to strengthen their techniques. All of this was accomplished during that Sunday morning. Many of my athletes kept setting personal bests as the season went on. Three in particular were on the boys’ side, a senior discus thrower placed in State Sectionals and qualified for the State Group IV meet, just missing setting a school record. A junior shot putter kept inching closer to 50’ and placed in both our league and county championship meets. Finally, a sophomore javelin thrower broke our school record by winning the County Seat Invitational with a throw of 162’ 4” and placing 2nd in the league meet. If you are looking to improve your throwers’ distances then you should have Kevin DiGiorgio do a clinic at your school.

Thanks,

Dean Campiglia

The Digiorgio Brothers have accomplished some amazing feats that most people will never come close to accomplishing, don’t let that make you lose hope, but instead let it motivate you to become the best you can be. I first took interest in track and field as a freshman, I threw 41-4 without ever really taking it seriously. Due to an ACL injury from football I missed my sophomore year. I came back my junior year and struggled during the indoor season, my last meet at state sectionals I threw 47-8. That Outdoor season I threw 50-6 and now I was starting to take it serious…I wanted to seek a scholarship, if I could.

Come my senior year I was looking up information on shot/discus trainers and Kevin DiGiorgio’s name and business popped up in the search. We set up a few sessions, one on one, that improved me drastically. His eyes pick up any flaws in your technique and he can fix it right away by showing you drills to break your old habits. That indoor season I threw 54-8 but in practice I threw 56s with Kevin during training. When outdoor season came I was consistently throwing in the 55’s all from Kevin’s great fine tuning coaching skills, but I could only work with him from time to time, so I couldn’t master my form. I did throw a few 57’s in practice with Kevin, but if I could have been closer to Kevin I think I could have broken the 60ft barrier. In the end taking lessons with Kevin IS WORTH IT BIG TIME! He won’t let you down and will stay with you until you understand the concepts he is teaching. I would recommend any shot/disc thrower to seek Kevin and learn and improve from his knowledge and top notch personal experience !!

   Thanks,

Going over discus technique with Shamire

I had Kevin down at Glassboro High School this past year (2008) 2 weeks prior to our season beginning. My goal was for the athletes and coaches to get drills, workout ideas, mental tips and have Kevin work with the athletes' technique. Everything was accomplished during his clinic. Fact is Glassboro High School had one of the greatest years in its 100 year history breaking multiple throwing records (over 20 school and relay records during the course of the year). Kevin’s clinic was everything I expected and  is for all athletes, beginner and elite. All athletes had personal records by the end of the season. Shamire Rothmiller leading the way with 44' shot, 126' discus and 136' javelin. Shamire was a 4x state champ in the shot, state champ (06) in disc and 3rdin the state javelin and a proud member of Kevin’s Bomb Squad.

Thanks Kevin,

Typical DiGiorgio release, High and Over the board !!! She learned well !!
Kristen Batts, Marlboro- 152 feet discus, 42 feet shot, 8th place at Outdoor Nationals '07. Headed to The University of Maryland. Congrats Kristen !!!!

I first started working with Coach Digiorgio the summer going into my junior year of high school. This was one of the smartest moves I have made throughout my track career. He started by breaking down my technique and focusing on perfecting the basics from ground zero. The results speak for themselves. In the discus my sophomore year I started off the with throw of 120 ft., but I was very inconsistent. Through working with Coach Digiorgio I ended up throwing 152 ft as a Senior, I became very consistent and had many throws over 145 feet. The Shot put was my weak event but everyone told me I had the potential to excel in it. Coming into my junior year my best throw was 36 ft; by the end of my senior year I have reached 42 ft. My junior and senior year I  qualified for Penn Relays, Golden West, and the Nike Nationals, both Indoor and Outdoor.

Not only did he motivate me to push myself to the next level but he also inspired me. Now as I look back on the intense and demanding workouts they were completely worth it. He challenged me both mentally and physically every session. There is no secret to becoming one of the most successful girl discus throwers in New Jersey state history, you have to be willing to work for it and Coach Digiorgio is willing to work with you every step of the way. I appreciate all the hard work and support he has put into training me. This upcoming track season of 2007 I will be competing for the University of Maryland and I can honestly say I would not be where I am today without him.

ARTICLE MENTIONING MY TRAINING PRINCIPLES...

frawley.jpg
Tom Frawley, 17 Verona High School. Getting ready for a HUGE Senior year!!!

frawley2.jpg
Tom Frawley, 37 feet to 50 feet, Frosh to Junior Progression, with one year left !!

Coach Digiorgio has been my Strength, Shotput, and Discus coach for two years now. My freshman year my best throw was  37'6, by the end of my Junior year he had me throwing 50'2 in the shot which is a unheard of a 13 foot spike in two years!! I was the first athlete he trained to throw over 50 feet and definitely could not have prospered the way I did without him.

As the Shotput record holder of New Jersey at 69'8 he has many National and State championships he knows everything you need to know from a beginner to an elite thrower. He is especially helpful because he is known throughout the state and nation as one of the greatest shotputters, and is especially helpful for college bound athletes for recruitment. He has many different workouts that consist of throwing, lifting, and speed training that will add numbers to your stats that you thought were nearly impossible!!

He has great determination with his athletes, he can work anywhere from one-on-one or in a group. Coach lives an hour away from my school and still was able to make practice everyday and would stay until you got your workout done until the both of us were satisfied. If you want to be the best you can be and get the best shotput and discus training in this state I strongly recommend Coach Kevin Digiorgio

Perfect Release !!!!!!!!!!!

Jason Maier,  22 yrs old, Collegiate Athlete, Former High school Standout

What ever your goal is, a National championship, State championship, League championship, get stronger, faster, bigger, you name it, Kevin is THE person to go to!!

As a trainer Kevin has helped me amass an impressive resume in high school.  Under Kevin’s guidance I was voted First Team All-Bergen County two times in the shot put, voted First Team All-Bergen County two times in the discus, voted First Team All North Jersey in the discus, won the Group 1 State Indoor Shot Put Relay Championships, won the Group 1 State Championships in the discus, I made the State Meet of Champions 5 times in the shot put and 2 times in the discus, ultimately medaling at the State Meet of champions placing 5th in the discus.  Without Kevin in my corner I am sure I would have never achieved any of that success!

Since then, Kevin and I have become Training partners.  Kevin’s arsenal is truly amazing.  Whether it’s running hills, doing some farmer walks, or repping in the circle, Kevin truly understands what it takes to become a championship thrower and to achieve your athletic potential. Not only does he understand the needs of his athletes, but he has the tools, and equipment to full-fill those needs.   With Great throwing facilities and training tools like strong man equipment, shots and discuses galore; 4k, 12lb, 16lb, 20 lb, 1k discs, 1.6k, 2k, throwing weights, etc..you would be hard pressed to find ANYONE else who can offer you such a diversified training program and tools/implements.

As an Athlete, a Training Partner, and a Friend, I know that Kevin is your best choice if you want to push yourself to the limit!!!!

Big Martin Brown unloading on a throw!

Martin has made great strides in this sport, with only a few years of experience

Martin Brown; Sophomore at The College of New Jersey

I first met Coach Digiorgio during my senior year at Verona High School when I started throwing the shot. I decided to continue throwing at the College of New Jersey where I am currently a sophomore. After a sub par first year of throwing, I called Coach Digiorgio to maximize my off season improvements. Training with him during the summer has helped me to fix some problems with my spin, become more explosive, and increase speed within the circle. What I really enjoy about training with Coach Digiorgio is the way he customizes each workout to the individual athlete.

Additionally, his expertise on throwing and training is second to none. He has opened my eyes to new ways to increase my strength, speed and technique. With his guidance, I have seen improvements all summer and I am fully prepared for a great sophomore season. I have taken what I learned over the summer and am building on that as I prepare for the start of the indoor season. The sessions were so beneficial that I have decided to continue them during the first semester and I will definitely train more during the winter and summer breaks. If you are looking to improve your throwing skills and see improvements, training with Coach Digiorgio is a must. As with anything, throwing involves a lot of work and dedication. If you are willing to work, the sky is the limit to how much you can improve with Coach Digiorgio. .

Joey Morrison, 17, senior at Morristown High (January 2008)

I first started working with Coach DiGiorgio during the summer going into my senior year. This was the best thing for me, but I wish I had started training with him sooner. The first time coming to him, I was throwing 43’ in the shot, 90’ in the discus, and was very inconsistent. During the first couple of sessions, he broke down my technique and we worked mainly on the basics. After a few sessions with him I was throwing 45’ to 46’ in the shot and 105’ to 110’ in the discus, and I was more consistent. I continued to train with Coach DiGiorgio through the fall and winter. Now as the winter track season gets underway I am throwing 48’ to 49’ and I have a personal record of 50’ 1/4” in the shot put, still improving each day.

Training with Coach DiGiorgio gets very intense. He has many different workouts that consist of throwing, lifting, speed training and hill runs. He has even made me a workout for lifting for pre-season and during season. Coach DiGiorgio is willing to work with you, as long as you work at it and practice at home when you are not with him. Looking back at the intense workouts and long days of training, it truly helps as long as you work hard. I appreciate all of the hard work that he has put into helping me.

Tom Mandese (Graduate of Bergen Catholic High School, NJ- 2010)

Hello, my name is Tom Mandese. I attended Bergen Catholic High School in New Jersey and competed in track and field. After my junior in high school, I had high expectations for myself.  I was going to train all summer even with a nagging football injury, but I had to find the right person to train me. I had heard of Kevin's name through a friend and decided to pursue this trainer. He helped me fix some flaws in my technique, gave me a workout schedule, and told me this would help me throw farther. Well, it did!!! I wound up throwing 50 feet + in the shot and 125 in the discus. Kevin helped me to believe in myself and taught me that nothing is impossible. He taught me that it doesn't matter the size of the dog in the fight, it's the size of the fight in the dog! He told me to train hard and work harder than your opposition. I will be continuing my athletic career at Holy Family University in Philadelphia. Thanks a Bunch, KEV !!!!
