"THE
SHOT & DISCUS TRAINING GURU of NJ"
Hello, my name is Kevin DiGiorgio. I am a "FULLY" certified IFPA Personal
Fitness Trainer, Track and Field Coach, a Physical Education Teacher, H.S. Strength and Conditioning Coach, and an Elite Shot
Put and Discus Throw training Specialist. My family and I have been involved in this sport since 1994. I have two younger
brothers, Glenn and Steve. Combined, we won 14 State Championships and 8 National Titles in the Shot Put and Discus throw!!
Glenn holds the most state championship wins in the State history for ANY EVENT at 9 and the National High School Championships
Meet record at 213 feet!! Glenn also holds American age records and a WORLD AGE RECORD. He threw the 16 lb shot 46' and
the 2k discus 146 feet as a 14 year old. His disc throw is the best throw in the history of the world, every country included,
only weighing in at 145 lbs.. And there is reason for that... We trained SMART and HARD. No family has EVER accomplished what
we have done in the High School Sector of Track and Field in the United States or maybe even Europe as well.
I hold the NJ State High School Shot Put Record at 69'8" which I threw as a 16 yr old school boy in
my Junior year of high school only being 5'9 and 215 lbs. I was a 3-Time National High School Shot Put Champion, 4-Time
NJ State Champion, and I still hold the National High School Championships Meet RECORD with NIKE of 69'8".
My throw of 69'8" as a Junior in High School is the 3rd best throw EVER in the HISTORY of the United States for Athletes
in the Junior Class in High School!! Just below 2 LEGENDS, Arnold Campbell and Micheal Carter, that's some AWESOME company
to be part of !!
Now that a little background information has been given I would just
like to say that for 13 years I dove head first into learning about the events of the shot put and discus throw and honestly
you will not find a better trainer around who has both unrivaled individual experience, as well as top notch coaching experience.
Athletes know athletes, and if other personal throws coaches out there have never been competitive on a State, National
and World level how do you expect them to teach you the rights, wrongs & minute details of being an elite athlete...?
They can't...
I have been a high school
coach since 2001 and I am currently one of the throws coaches at Verona H.S. in Verona, NJ. We have won many team championships
and have a tremendous coaching staff, which includes Coach Sebastian Powell, Coach Dave Galbierczek, Coach Gene Leperrati
and Coach Nick Serpico and Coach Palmeriezzi . The kids love the program and work very hard. We have devised some crazy workouts
for the throwers and they all like being part of the program, more kids come out each year..
I have been personally training athletes since my brother, Glenn, back in 1998. I learned a tremendous amount
about coaching and hard work from my father, Dominick, and Glenn was the first athlete that I got to test some of my own training
ideas out on. Glenn, wound up winning 5 National Championships in the Shot Put and Discus Throw combined!!! His best throws
were 213'4 in the discus and 68'1" in the Shot. That may be the best shot/disc combo ever in United States History
for High School athletes in Track and Field. Glenn won a combined 9 NJ State Meet of Champions titles, no athlete in
NJ state history has beaten that in any event combination!! I have trained plenty of athletes since then, but nothing as steady
as it has been in these last three years from 2005-2008.
Technique is a HUGE part of these 2 events
and odds are you probably won't find anyone who coaches high school athletes in the United States who is as technical
as I am about these 2 events. In High School standing only 5'9" and 215 lbs in a sport dominated by monsters
of 6'4 and bigger I rose above the competition and walked through everything and everyone in my path. My throws did
not come from being 6 ft 10, 300 lbs, but from hard work, discipline and technique. I teach those same concepts and principles
to the athletes that I train that my father instilled into me. Concepts that I ultimately used to win 3 National
Championships and still hold the NIKE outdoor United States Championships Meet Record.
Proof of my
training does not lie, you can see it in the results. What better way is there to judge a Coach and an athlete than seeing
what results he/she produces. In the past years one of my top performers, Kristin Batts, of Marlboro H.S. in NJ excelled beyond
what anyone thought she would have. When she came to me at a wobbly 118 feet in the discus and 34 feet in the shot no one
would have thought, except me, that she would have finished her high school career out at 152'8" in the discus(8th
place at Nationals) and 42'4" in the shot put! She followed the same principles I followed when I trained and
that I teach to all of my athletes and she was #1 in the State of NJ in the Discus throw and top 5 in the shot. She now attends
the University of Maryland where I predict she will continue with this success.
She is not the only athlete I have who improves. I can name every athlete that I have ever coached
and some have improved by FEET in the first session ALONE!!!!! Every athlete that I have had the opportunity to meet
and train has improved. Don't forget these 2 events are not only based on POWER, but on a combination of SPEED, STRENGTH,
AGILITY, and last but not least TECHNIQUE!!!
Come give a session a try and you will see the improvement
I speak of. Technique is second to none and that is what I teach best.
THANK YOU !!
